Break World Record??


The Office of Religious Education, has submitted an application to break the Guiness Book of World Records for the biggest game of Duck, Duck, Goose during the Catholic Youth Spectacular on September 12, 2010 on the grounds of the Archdiocesan Center at St Thomas Seminary in Bloomfield, CT.

There is still time to have your parish, school, cyo team, or scout troup represented at this Archdiocese of Hartford signature youth event. Contact Shawnee Baldwin at 860-243-9465 to get on board! Other dioceses welcome.

Sunday Youth Retreats

Holy Family Passionist Retreat Center offers Sunday evenings retreats for youth throughout the 2010-2011 season. Retreat begins at 2:30 and includes talks, workshops, discussions, prayer, reconciliation, music. Evening ends after dinner at 6:30. Retreat offering in $30.00. Youth Ministry Studies Certificate

The Youth Ministry Certificate program sponsored by the Center for Ministry Development is back at the Oakhurst Retreat and Conference Center in Whitinsville, MA (near Worcester)!!

  • Principals of Youth Ministry (August 27-28, 2010)
  • Practices of Youth Ministry (Nov 6-7, 2010)
  • Foundations for Ministry Leadership (Feb 5-6, 2011)
  • Skills for Christian Leadership (June 11-12, 2011)
This nationally recognized certificate consists of eight weekend courses over a two year span, some reading, and a final project. Youth Speak about Justice

Shawnee Baldwin, Coordinator of Youth and Young Adult Ministry for the Office of Religious Education of the Archdiocese of Hartford, facilitated a workshop called Youth Speak at the first Annual Bishop Rosazza Social Justice Conference sponsored by the Office for Catholic Social Justice Ministry.



Young people from four parishes talked about projects - Corporal Works of Mercy - that have transformed the lives of both participants and recipients: Young Neighbors in Action ; Cardboard City, Justice Club for Kids, Justice Walking, and the CRS Food Fast


The parish youth present at this workshop were from St Anthony-Prospect, St Francis of Assisi-South Windsor, St Patrick-Farmington, and Sacred Heart-Southbury.
